Company Overview & History

Zainer Rinehart Clarke was founded in 1979 by Timothy Zainer, Richard Rinehart and Richard Clarke, each with his own expertise and diverse background including audit, tax, litigation support, valuation, financial planning and appraisals of businesses and personal net worth. Their goal in starting the firm was to bring high quality CPA services to Sonoma County, while creating a fun place to work that allowed them to spend a little more time with their growing families. ZRC opened its doors to greet clients in its 700 square foot office in downtown Santa Rosa on December 1, 1979.

In just a few years, Tim, Rich and Rick had attracted several satisfied clients and continued to receive numerous referrals. The time came for the founders to expand their practice. Betsy Stewart subsequently joined the firm and has been a director of ZRC since 1985. She has worked extensively in the fields of publishing, wine, farming, real estate development, and construction.

Through the years ZRC has been fortunate to be able to add high quality professionals to the ZRC team. Linda Kachiu has been a director with ZRC since 1995 and is held in high regard in the areas of internal management and organizational development and design. She also specializes in law firms, exempt organizations—including charitable institutions—trade associations and private foundations. Linda Lampson another long-term professional with ZRC has been a director since 2005. She is one of Sonoma County’s leading specialists in Trust and Estate Taxation.

As the years passed and the number of the clients served grew, the firm has blossomed into the dynamic firm it is today. ZRC has found its home with offices situated in the Fountaingrove area of Santa Rosa with a phenomenal view overlooking Sonoma County. With approximately thirty professional and support staff serving a broad range of clients and industries, the firm has been able to maintain the founders’ goals of quality accounting services in an environment based on teamwork that continues to be a fun place to work.
